Bolzoni Group ready for AGV applications

Attachment maker Bolzoni has modified its offerings for the growing market of Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs), especially with the expansion of e-commerce in the grocery sector.

The company notes that e-grocery has significantly increased in the past year, mainly due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and the forecast for the future is an even more rapid growth, especially in the US.

To meet this demand, Bolzoni has expanded its range of fully electric-driven attachments. The elimination of hydraulic controls means a cleaner environment for food and beverage applications; better and more efficient connection with the AGV control system; more precise, reliable and repetitive movement; and correct positioning of the different attachment operations.

"When the AGV needs to position the forks for different pallet sizes, it can use an electric-driven fork positioner, operated by electric actuators, easy to control and more precise in positioning," says Francesco Tagliaferri, AGV solutions head of sales in the Bolzoni Group.

"Many grocery logistics operators are now investing in automated warehousing systems, using narrow-aisle AGVs equipped with electric-driven Bolzoni Auramo trilateral heads. Beyond the possibility to avoid hydraulic fluid in the handling equipment, the electric-driven movements increase the speed and safety of the operations and, therefore, the productivity of the warehousing system," he explains.

"We can provide products equipped with a full set of sensors, as per customer specifications, or with an agreed pre-setting to accept a customer's own sensors and cabling," he adds.
